استقر”بيتر” على العنقريب الصغير وطفق يحدق في الفراغ الشاسع ، يشاهد أسراب طيور الزرزور وهي تحلق في مجموعات كبيرة ، وتصنع أشكالاً هندسية مدهشة ، قاصدة الجنوب، كان مرهقاً جداً ، لتوه إنتهى من تحميل ثلاثين جوال ذرة لصالح “حاج النور” وهو من أشهر المزارعين وأصحاب النفوذ في مدينة الدالي، يمتلك آلاف الأفدنة ومثلها من الأبقار والضأن ، كان قد خصص هذه الكمية من الجوالات لتوزيعها على الفقراء ، وهو يفعل ذلك سنوياً ، مع مرور الزمن أصبح معظم سكان المدينة يستمعون لآرائه و يدعمونها فهم لا يعصون له أمراً، فالكل يسعى لأرضائه مهما كلفه ذلك ، هذا مكنه من كسب الانتخابات في المجلس التشريعي الولائي لثلاث دورات على التوالي ،مما جعله يمتلك شبكة علاقات واسعة مع سياسين ودبلوماسيين ، كما له امتياز خاص عند رئيس الجمهورية فمنحه بطاقة خاصة تمكنه من مقابلته في أي وقت وفي كل الظروف لأن أهل المدينة جميعهم يدعمون الرئيس ، كانت البطاقة تسهل له كل العمليات الحكومية ،مثل التمويل البنكي ويعامل معاملة خاصة في جميع مؤسسات الدولة ، شيئاً فشيئاً أصبح لديه مقعد في المجلس الوطني السوداني ،مما يعني أن له رأي وصوت يدلي به لتمرير قوانين جديدة تدعم أهدافهم السياسية ، يتحدث كأنه خبير في قضايا التعليم والحرب ، وانفصال الجنوب ، ويدعم النظام على حسم المتمردين في دارفور وكردفان .كل هذه المعلومات ادلى بها أخية الأصغر في عرس “محمد ود حاج الصافي ” يخبر الناس عن انتصارات حاج النور ، وأصبحت هذه الانتصارات فاكهة الحديث عند الجميع وشغلهم الشاغل ، كانوا يفتخرون به ، ويحكونها في محلات بيع الشاي والأندية ، والمآتم ، والمساجد ،وفي كل مكان حتى انه وفي مرات كثيرة عندما يدخل الرجل على زوجته يتمنى ان ينجب ولد ضكراً مثل “حاج النور” فعظم أولاد المدينة أسمهم النور من شدة اعتزازهم بة ،حديث الناس عنه بهذه الطريقة وانشغالهم به هو الشئ الوحيد الذي يفسر عدم خسرانة في الانتخابات لا أحد يتجرأ أن يرفع صوته او ينبس ببنت شفه في أثناء وجوده ناهيك عن منافسته في الانتخابات كان لا يخفى على أحد سطوته وهيبته عندما يأتي أحد المسؤولين في زيارة خاطفة للمدينة ، فهو من أولئك الذين أنعم ورضي الله عنهم كما يقولون ،فيقوم بضبح الإبل والعجول اكراما للمسؤول وحاشيته.
وكان” بيتر” هو الشخص الوحيد المسؤول عن مخازن “حاج النور” ورئيس نقابة الحمّالين فهو أحد الجنوبيين الذين تربوا في منزل “حاج النور” بعد ان نجا من ميتة محققه ،وهرب من التجنيد الإجباري حين ذاك ،حيث عرف عنه الصدق والأمانة ولذلك أوكل له هذه المهمة ، في مرات كثيرة يسمح بتوزيع عدد قليل من الجولات بالاتفاق مع السائق للجوعى من الجنوبيين من الحصة المخصصة للفقراء ، لأنه ما زال يحتفظ بحنين وقريحة رومانسية تجعله يشفق على الجنوبيين القدامى الذين يعيشون في معسكر النازحين طرف المدينة ، وكانوا يجتمعون في كل يوم أحد في أنداية ” ملو” وقلوبهم مقطوعة الى شريحتين ، تحترق إحداها في شمال السودان الذي أصبحوا فيه غرباء ومهملين لا يهتم بهم أحد ولا يتمتعون بحرية بعد أن كان بلدهم الذي ترعرعوا فيه وشريحة اخرى يمزقها الوفاء الأبدي لجنوب السودان الذي يعاني من ويلات الحرب بعد الانفصال ، “حاج النور” هو أحد دعاة الانفصال و وقيادته ومن أولئك الذين قاموا بذبح الثيران عندما قرر الجنوبيين مصيرهم ، ومنذ هاتيك اللحظة اتخذ موقفا عدائيا ضدهم، فهو من قرر إبعادهم عن المدينة ، احرق بيوتهم وأحاط أرضهم بسياج من السلك الشائك ، بنى فيها دكاكين ، و حظائر لأبقاره ، ومخازن للسيارات ، لم يتوقف عند هذا الحد بل أجبر من اختار المكوث وعدم العودة للجنوب على العمل في عمليات الحرث والحصاد مقابل لا شئ ، ويأخذ كل المعونات التي تأتي من منظمات دعم اللاجئين .
كان” بيتر”طويلاً ونحيفاً ، شعره قرنفلي داكن ، عندما تتسلل خيوط الضوء الى جسده يلمع مثل جوهرة ثمينة ،ولكنه الآن يبدو متعباً مثل فيل عجوز غطس في الوحل ، هو مصاب بالشرود والوهن ، يغوص في ذكرياته ، يرى السماء رمادية قابعه في الظلمة وهو يحاول ان يراها مليئة بالعصافير ، كانت تجلس أمامه زوجته “ميري ” وهي تطبخ اللوبيا من اجل الفطور على طريقة جدتها ، التي تمتع جميع الحواس بمذاقه الحلو الشهي ، لم تعرف سر هذه الخلطة الا “ميري” وحدها ، حتى أن حاج النور في مرات كثيرة يرسل لها من اجل ان تطبخ له اللوبيا لأنه يستمتع كثيرا للطعام الذي تصنعه وعندما يشعر بالشبع ويبدأ يلعق أصابعه يقول هذه الخادم يدها طاعمة فترمقة زوجته بنظرة ازدراء وقسوة لوهلة يتنازل عما كان يقول. تنحدر”ميري” من ولاية” بحر الغزال” في جنوب السودان وقد عاشت طفولتها هناك ، تسبح في النهر عند النهار ، ترقص وتلعب في المساء مع أولاد القرية ، أكلت لحم الغزال والتماسيح الذي كان يصطاده والدها ، تتسلق أشجار المانجو والباباي العالية ، فكانت حياتها أسطورية ، ولكن عندما اشتعلت الحرب وأحرقت القرية بكاملها ، مات معظم أهل، وطفق البوم ينعق فوق جثثهم ، ومن نجا منهم أجبر على النزوح نسبة لانعدام الأمن هناك، واشتعلت الحرب أكلت نيرانها الأكواخ وشوت جلودهم ، بعد بعد شهور من المشي على الأرجل والجوع والمرض وجدوا أنفسهم يسكنون في كوخ غش صغير في معسكر النازحين طرف المدينة ، بعد سنوات أنجب معظمهم وأصبح لديهم أعمال ومهن يدوية مثل تشطيب المباني وفي عمليات حرث المحاصيل وحصادها وتخزينها ،وبيتر هو أحد أولئك الذين يتمتعون بمهارة يدوية وبكفاءة عالية في حفظ المحاصيل وتهويتها حتى يحين وقت استخدامها .”ميري “كانت دائما تجد إحدى البنات من اللائي يقمن بالغسيل والخدمة في البيوت داخل المدينة ، تبكي وتتحسر لأنهم قاموا بطردها من العمل بعد إذلالها ،فتضمها الى صدرها وتغضب كثيراً على قسوتهم وسوء تعاملهم، تقول في نفسها من أين جاءوا هولاء بهذه القلوب السوداء التي لا ترحم ضعيفاً ، فتبدأ “ميري” في تعليم البنات صنع العسلية والطبخ الشهي وترشدهم في أمور النساء، لأن كثيراً منهن فقدو امهاتهن أثناء الحرب بطرق مختلفة فمنهن ماتت بطلقة طائشة أواغتصبها الجنود وكثيراً منهن ألقو بأرواحهم في النهر ، كانت تحاول أن تضمد جراحات الفتيات بطرق مختلفه، غيرت في حياة الكثير منهن ، لا يستغرق الأمر شهور فقط حتى يصبحن منتجات ويجدن الطبخ و يتهافت الشباب لخطبتهن ، “ميري” وجة غزاله وعينان بيضاوين مثل الحليب ، واسنانها نجمات في ليل حالك الظلام، كانت ترتدي ثوبا مورد تغطي به خصرها وصدرها ويبدو باليا قليلاً ولكنة انيق جداً . لقد عاشت هي وبيتر حياة قاسية ومؤلمه ولكنها لا تخلو من الهدوء والمحبة ، لقد عاشا في كوخ صغير بالمعسكر طيلة خمسة سنوات دون مشكلات كبيرة ، حتى بدأ شيئ ما يحدث في الأيام الأخيرة وهما الآن حائرين و مثبطين . في أحد أركان الكوخ ، توجد حقائب وإناء كبير من القرع معلق بحبال مصنوعة من السعف ، وصندوق قديم جداً ونقارة . كان عليهما القيام بشئ ولكنهما خائفين ، وكان القلق يحيط بهما وهما يتجرعان “مشروب العسلية” المسكر متكئين بكوعيهما على العنقريب الخشبي الصغير متناسين ضجيج المدينة المدينة المفزع خلال المساء .
قالت ميري يا ترى أين ذهب ابننا سايمون ؟ منذ البارحة لم يعد ، سألت عنه الجميع لم يجبني أحد ، فمن عادته لا يطلع خارج أسوار المعسكر فهو ما زال يافعا وشيقاً وانا اشعر بالشفقة عليه قلبي يوجعني ، واخاف ان يكون قد حدث له شئ ، كانت تؤمن بالخرافات جداً وتدقق النظر في كل شعور او اي علامة تراها تستطيع ان تتبأ بما يحدث ومن ما زاد إيمانها بهذه المهارة أن تنبؤاتها كانت تحدث بالفعل ، أردفت قائلة قبل أن تشتعل الحرب شعرت بنفس الإحساس وعندها ركضت نحو الكوخ فأخبرت جدتي بأن قلبي يوجعني كأن هناك شخص يؤخذه بالإبر ، بكت واحتضنتني ثم أمسكت برأسي وتلت تعاويذ لا أتذكرها ومنحتني وقالت لي إذا حدث شئ للقرية اركضي اركضي بلا توقف ولا تنظري لمن هم خلفك ابداً بل اركضي بكل قواك، ، هدي من روعك يا حبيبتي قال” بيتر ” ممسكاً يديها ثم قبلها وهو يبكي ،ويقول بحسرة أطفالنا غير محظوظين يا “ميري” قدرهم ان يكونوا ممزقين هنا، لم يروا أرض جدودهم ولم يشاهدوا الفيلة الصغيرة وهي تركض في الغابة ولم تنكسر أسنانهم أثناء أكلهم الدوم ، ولم تقذفهم القرده بحبات المانجو ، وهنا يعاملون كأنهم نكره لا يحصلون على تعليم ولا صحة ، بل يراهم معظم الشماليين كالعبيد ، وهم لا يدركون ما معنى ان تشتعل الحرب ، انظري لهم كيف يعاملوا ابناءنا ونحن قلوبنا تنزف دماً من هول ما عشناه هنا وهناك ،ما يحدث لنا شئ مروع لا يمكن لأحد أن يتحمله. يوم امس سمعت همهمات زملائي الحمالين وشهادتهم يهمزون ويلمزون ،يقولون أن “حاج النور” علم بأني أخذت زيادة عدد من الجولات ووزعتها على اهلي الجنوبيين وأنا لم أخذ جوالاً واحداً يزيد عن الكمية التي أمر بتوزيعها للفقراء ،هو بالتأكيد يحسبها خيانة عظمى ، ولا بد ان هناك أحداً قال له غير الحقيقة ، انا لم اسرق منه أبداً بل شعرت انا العجوز “مادينق” المسكين يتلوى من شدة الجوع فأعطيته القليل من الذرة ، مع العلم ان العجوز مادينق أفنى عمرة كله في قطع الأشجار واقتلاع جذورها من أجل توسيع الأراضي الزراعية لصالح “حاج النور” فظننت أن إعطائه نصف جوال من الذرة سوف يبقيه على قيد الحياة حتى يأخذ الله روحة .
كان الاثنان ينظران الى الشارع ،وكان الجو رطباً قليلا وأشجار السدر على طرف السياج قد بدأت تثمر.
أحن الى النهر وأشجار الأبنوس العالية ، اوعدني عندما يكبر سايمون سوف نزوجه ابنة اختي “مايا ” ونرقص كثيراً على إيقاع النقارة لثلاثين يوماً ونصنع براميل من العسلية والمريسة المعتقة .على غرار كل سكان المعسكر كانت “ميري” تتحدث بالعربي المكسر “عربي جوبا ” ولكن الكلمات الأخيرة قالتها بلغة النوير كأنها تجلس الان حقيقة على شجرة الأبنوس قرب النهر وتخطط لزواج ابنها “سايمون “.
كان بيتر يدخن وهو يطل على الغروب ، حافي القدمين يرتدي سروال بيجامة زرقاء .
أتخيل ذلك قال – ليال القرية الساهرة ووفرة اللحم والفواكه بصورة كبيرة والصبيات الجميلات لكنني لا أظن العودة ستكون قريبة ، فأنا أظن أن الحرب لم تنتهي بعد وهؤلاء لا أظنهم ان ينهونها قريباً ،انهم يتاجرون بنا يا” ميري” ، نحن سلعتهم الرخيصه ، يجربون فينا السلاح ، يمضون أعماراً في الفنادق ، والبارات، يجلسون على الموائد والحوارات يستعطفون الدول بجوعنا واغتصاب بناتنا ، من أجل حفنة دولارات ، نحن نشبة الموت ، أنظري لأجسادنا ولوننا الأسود ، كل من يرانا يحتقرنا ، النساء في المدينة عندما يبكي الأطفال يقولون لهم “الدينكاوي جا الدينكاوي جا” فيصمت في الحال كأننا أشباح ، وعندما يكبر الطفل قليلاً يقذفوننا بالحجارة عندما نسير في الطرقات ، وفي اللحظة التي يصبح فيها رجلاً ، يشعل الحرب بيننا لا ادري كيف للإنسان أن يسمي نفسه بشراً والآخر شبحا لمجرد أن الآخر يختلف عنه في اللون فقط ، لا شئ آخر ، يا لبؤسهم
يكبر المرء بسرعة قالت ميري فجأة لكنة لا يتغير بل يكبر فقط . يا إلهي هذا هو القبيح في الأمر، م زلت لدي الرغبة في العيش في بحر الغزال ولكنك لا تأخذني بمحمل الجد ولا احد غيرك يهتم لشأني يا “بيتر” ولكنني فقط أعيش معذبة هنا حبيسة لرغبتي وأحلامي بالعودة إلى اختي مايا سأظل للأبد عالقة هناك ووفية الى حيث انتمي ، الني.
لقد تغير وضعنا جزرياً بعد الانفصال يا” ميري” ، لا نعرف الى أين ننتمي وحتى لغة أجدادنا أصبحنا لا نتحدث بها كثيراً ، في الغالب بلغة العرب وهم يضحكون علينا عندما نتكلم عربي جوبا لكني لا أهتم بما يقولون حقا لا اهتم .احتضننها وبكى ، تمتم بصوت مبحوح أنتي تجعلني قلقاً عليك اكثر يا حبيبتي ، ينتابك حنين الرجوع الى هناك ، دموعك تجري بغزارة كل صباح ، كأنك تحاولين يائسة ان يكون منبع بحر الغزال من عينيك .
هذا لا يعني ان” بيتر” فقد الحنين الى الزرافات واصوات المرافعين والعصافير ، فهو بقدر الإمكان يحاول ان يطرد هذه الأشياء من ذاكرتة وينساها الى الأبد ، لأنه سمع “حاج النور” في أحدى في خطبة اثناء الحملة الانتخابية الماضية يقول :”ينبغي ان تنسو وعودي بحصولكم على جرارات زراعية ، توصيل الكهرباء ، فجميع الأموال قد آرسنالها إلى المجاهدين المرابطين في الحدود يحاربو العبيد ، عظم الله أجرهم ورحم شهدائنا ، الحرب بيننا وبين هؤلاء الكفرة لم تنتهي بعد حتى يعودوا الى طريق الرشاد ، ومنذ هذه اللحظة لا بد ان تباشر لجنة تبرعات من اجل الالمدرسة،شهداء والمجاهدين عملها تقوم بجمع الدخن والذرة والمبالغ المادية وتذكروا أن الله يربي الصدقات وفي الاخير عليكم أن تنسو لأن لدينا عهد مع الشهداء وأنتم تريدون متاع الدنيا” . كل ما فهمة بيتر من هذا الحديث الطويل هو ان هناك حرب وعلية ينسى قفز القرود وأصوات الأسود وإيقاع النقارة أن ينسى ولو لفترة مؤقتة .
كان المساء يزحف مثل طفل هادئا وبطئاً ،ولكن ميري لم تنم قط ، فهي لا تهتم بالأشياء في الواقع الا بأشياء قليلة بيتر وابنها سايمون وذاكرتها ، في الأيام الأخيرة لم تسطيع النوم سوى ساعتين أو ثلاثة ،فمنحها ذلك بصيرة خاصة كانت تبعدها عن كل شئ وتجعلها ترصد “سايمون” بعيني عالم حشرات ، لأن السهر وطبيخ اللوبيا لزوجها ، وذاكرتها ، كل هذه الأشياء ابعد من تكون انشغال ميري الوحيد.
_قل لي شئياً سايمون- قال بيتر .أين نمت ليلة امس؟ بحثنا عنك في كل مكان ، لم نترك جحر ضب الا ودخلنا فية ، ظننا أنهم قتلوك ، أشار الى الأحياء السكنية المجاورة للمعسكر … هل أرعبك أحدهم .
-لا ، مطلقاً بقيت مع أولاد “حاج النور” كنت ابحث عنك، وجدهم يلعبون عندما تأخرت يا إبي انضممت إليهم كنا نلعب قد صنعنا سيارات صغيره وبنينا مصنع لأنتاج الطحينة بالسمسم متوفر هنا ، وجعلناك مسؤول المخازن اضافة لعملك الآخر، سوف يكون لدينا مال وفير وجرادل طحينة ، كنا قد لعبنا الى وقت متأخر من الليل فتركوني أنام في الديوان -قال سايمون -.
لا امتلك حذاء ونظر الى قدمة الحافية لا بد انك سوف تشتري لي واحداً ، ودفاتر أليس كذلك .
أريد أن ألعب واذهب معهم الى المدرسة ، فهم الآن ذهبوا إليها وما يزال الوقت مبكراً … لن يعودوا قبل الثانية او الثالثة.
لقد لعبنا جيداً وضحكنا كثيراً ،مجرد أن يأتيني أحدهم بالحديد من الصفيح والطين فأصنع له حياة كامله ، سيارات صغيرة وجرارات لحمل المحاصيل وابني له بيتا وديوان كبير مثل الذي نمت فية الليلة الماضية، تمر لحظات قليلة حتى أقيم لأحدهم حياة كاملة.
-إذن لا تفكر بأن ذلك يمكن أن يستمر ومنذ هذه اللحظة إن رأيتك تعدو اسوار هذا المعسكر سوف اقطع رجليك هل تفهمني يا “سايمون” وأيضاً لا تفكر بأنك سوف تذهب للمدرسة او انك حافي القدمين ، نحن فقراء ومشردين وجوعى لا بد انك تعي ذلك جيداً وهذا قدرنا يا ابني .
ماذا تقول ؟ سأل سايمون… لا بد انك تمزح يا أبي .
كان سايمون يداعب قدمة اليمني العارية بيده اليسرى بينما يستند باليمنى على ساق شجرة السدر والدموع تنهمر من عينية فتتوقف عند طرفي فمة فتطبئ حركتها هناك ، كان يصرخ بكل قواه أريد أن أذهب الى المدرسة اريد اللعب ، في لحظات عرف الجميع ان سايمون قد عاد وكل أهل المعسكر قد جاءوا في جماعات كأنهم يستجيبون لنداء إغاثة ، بقيا صامتين وهم ينظرون إلى ميري وهي تضم ابنها الى صدرها وتقبل رأسه وتبكي ، حتى سمع الجميع أصوات صرير عربة وهي تسير بسرعة كبيرة نحو مدخل ا المعسكر محدثة ازيزاً كأنها بركان .
صرخ أحد الأطفال المتفرجين أنهم رجال” الكشه ” تفرق الجمع ،ركضن بائعات نحو الخمور منازلهم في محاولة يائسة أن يخفينها في مكان ما ، ولكن عساكر الشرطة لم يقصدوا أماكن السكر ولا مروجي المخدرات والبيوت التي تبيع الحب لمراهقين المدينة، بل قصدوا كوخ “بيتر ” حينها نظر أحدهما الى الآخر في حالة ترقب ودهشه لما سوف يحدث ، كل واحد في المعسكر قد بداء يخمن بطريقة مختلفة عن الآخر، ماذا فعل هؤلاء المساكين كي يأتي رجال شرطه بهذا العدد، وقبل أن يرسموا اي صوره في عقولهم لتخميانتهم هذه ؛ حينها سمعوا أصوات الضرب والصراخ وأشعل الجنود النار في الكوخ الصغير، يعودون لتخيل النور المصفر الذي كان ينزل من الرتينة الصغيرة ويضئ جزء من ساحة المعسكر فيضفي شئ من الأمل ، يتخيلون ميري الآن تحكي لودها قصص من ذاكرتها المشبعة بالحكي والونس والموت ولكن ذلك لم يحدث بعد اليوم ، تحول الكوخ في دقائق الى كومة رماد ، أما سايمون وبيتر اقتادهم رجال الشرطة والأمن إلا مخبأ سري خارج المدينة يتبع للأمن ، حيث اتهمت زوجة “حاج النور” سايمون بسرقة المجوهرات والذهب من منزلها بالأمس وقد قالت انه خدع صغارها على أن يخبروه بمكان الذهب أثناء ما كان يلعب معهم ، وقد حلفت بالإشراف والشيخ عويس أنها رأته خارجاً من الغرفة التي تخبئ فيها. ذهبها ومجوهراتها ، وأضاف حاج النور ان بيتر كان يسرق عدد مقدر من جوالات الذرة ويوزعه على أهله وأنا أظن ان الذهب وهذه المجوهرات خبأها عند احد في المعسكر فهو كان يعلم بقدومنا فيبدو مخطط لكل شئ هؤلاء الكفار ليس فيهم خير ابداً الكلاب أفضل منهم بألف مرة ، قال الضابط هذه أدلة دامغة ،حاج النور وحرمة لم يكذبان ابداً ، أمر بضربهم وتخويفهم حتى يعترفوا بمكان الذهب الذي خبأه فيه ، وأمر بقية العساكر ان يعتقل كل من له صلة قرابة” بيتر” سواء كان من بعيد او قريب، في اليوم قام أمر العسكري بيتر بأن يخلع ملابسه ووضع في جسده فأراً جائعاً ، كان الفائر شرساً وله رائحه نته ، ثم قلم أظافره وقرص بالزرديه في اكثر مواضع جسمه حساسية ، ثم قال له هذا هو جزاء من يسرق سيده ، ويوم غداً ان لم تخبرنا سوف نطعم لحم ولدك لكلابنا البوليسية ، كان بيتر عاجزاً لا يدري شئاً عما يقولون ، وكيف لطفل لم يبلغ العاشره ان يسرق كيلو ذهب ومجوهرات بالملايين ، وإذا فعل أين يخبئهم ، كانت زوجة حاج النور لها حقد قديم مع ميري ، لأن زوجها قال لها ان هذه الجنوبيه يدها طاعمة في الطبيخ ، لذا إرادات ان ترد لها الصاع صاعين ، أخذت ابنها وزوجها والآن تأكل الفئران أعضائهم ، ولم تقف عند هذا الحد بل تحدثت مع حاج النور وهي تستشيط غضباً ، إن لم يقم بطرد هؤلاء الانجاس من ارضهم سوف تذهب الى بيت ابيها ولن تعود له للابد ، لم يستطيع ان يتفوه بكلمه ، فزوجته حادة الطباع ولن عنيدة ، لم تتراجع ابداً ، هي تفعل ما تملية عليها جمجمتها الخربه ، وكانت عندما تغضب يفور دمها ، تمتلئ عيونها بالدم ، تهشم كل ما تقع عليه يدها ، أكواب الزجاج ، مرايا التوليت جهاز التلفزيون ،كل شئ ، هذه المره اكتفت بتمزيق جلابية زوجها السبعة أصفار وإذا لم يفعل ما تطلبة سوف يحدث ما لا يتحمل عاقبته .
أمر اتصل بالضابط ليخبره هل هناك جديد في القضية ، قال اعتقلنا كل من له علاقة به وهو الآن قابع في غرفة التعذيب ننتظر اعترافه ، انهال علية جنودنا بالسياط و ابرحوه ضرباً هذا العبد نجس وخائن يستحق اشد العقوبات وأقسى أنواع التعذيب .
في صبيحة اليوم الثاني جمع “حاج النور” أهالي المدينة وتحدث أن هؤلاء الكفره ليس فيهم حسنة ، منحناهم أرضاً يسكنون فيها ، ولكنهم لم يقدروا المعروف ما زالوا يسرقون منا ويشربون الخمور ،ويمارسون الفواحش ويبعون المخدرات لأبناءنا ، اخوانا المجاهدين يقاتلون هولاء من أجل أن لا تكون العلمانية في بلادنا ، و هؤلاء الانجاس دعاة للكفر والرذيلة ، علينا ان نقتلهم ، صاح احدهم الموت ليس كافياً ، بل علينا أن نحرقهم ، يريدون أن يدنسوا ارضنا الطاهره ، تحمس الجمع وظلو يهتفون الموت للانجاس الموت للانجاس ، ركضوا ناحية المعسكر حاملين جركانات بلاستيكية ممتلئه بالجازولين شاهرين سيوفهم وأسلحتهم ، أحرقوا الأكواخ اغتصبوا الفتيات ، وقتلوا كل من في المعسكر
كان “بيتر” مضجراً فوق دمائه ، قواه خائرة ، يسمع من بعيد صرخات سايمون
وكان يقول

كل الذين حولك متعطشين لدمك لدمي…
الحياة بالنسبة لنا محض ذكريات من الموت الأبدي …
لا تسألني من أين جاءوا …
من نحن…
نحن بقايا دمع مالح

محت الكراهية أسماؤنا ،اشياءنا …

وأقسموا أن لا يبقى أحد…

لا تدع الانتقام يأخذك الى الموت
سايمون لا تزرع الحرب
وعندما يسألك الصغار
من انت؟
قل لهم إني بذرة للسلام.
عندما جاء الضابط حاملاً إصبع سايمون مقطوعا في جريدة من اجل ان يعذب اكثر ويقوده للاعتراف، وجده قد لفظ آخر أنفاسه مودعا عالم لا يعرف غير الموت والخراب ، وفي هذه اللحظة ، رن هاتف الضابط فإذا به حاج النور يتكلم وفي قلبه حسرة ، يخبر الضابط ان زوجته وجدت المجوهرات والذهب إذ قبل ايام حولتهم من المكان المزعوم ونست هذه الخطوة .
خرج سايمون من مقر التعذيب وغادر المدينة الى الأبد يحمل في جمجمته ذاكرة من رماد .
